Pronouns – Đại từ – 23 Common Grammar Topics in the Cambridge Starters Exam

In English, pronouns are words that replace nouns to avoid repetition and make sentences clearer. They can refer to people, animals, or things. There are different types of pronouns, such as demonstrative pronouns (this, that, these, those) point to specific items; personal pronouns (I, you, he, she, it, we, they) used as subjects, and object pronouns (me, him, her, them) used after verbs; possessive pronouns (mine, yours) show ownership; Interrogative pronouns are used to ask questions about people or things, they are usually placed at the beginning of a sentence and replace the noun that the question refers to; “One” is a pronoun used to replace a singular noun that has already been mentioned. Using pronouns helps keep sentences simple and makes speaking and writing smoother and easier to understand.
