☑️ Common verbs followed by an INFINITIVE
☑️ Common verbs followed by a GERUND
☑️ Remember, forget, stop, try, regret + TO-INFINITIVE or GERUND

Infinitives

A. 📝 Use a to-infinitive after specific verbs such as agree, decide, expect, happen, pretend, promise, manage, and tend.
For example: They agreed to help.

B. 🔗 Use a to-infinitive after certain verbs followed by an object. Common verbs in this pattern include advise, allow, expect, forbid, want, force, and tell.
For example: She advised him to wait.

C. 🚫 Use an infinitive without “to” after particular verbs followed by an object, such as have, let, make, feel, see, hear, smell, and find.
For example: They let Sarah join the team.

Gerunds

🔄 Use the -ing form of a verb after these specific verbs: avoid, can’t help, deny, feel like, give up, imagine, mind, postpone, and enjoy.
For example: She denied skipping class.

Choosing Between Infinitives and Gerunds

🔄 Certain verbs can take either a to-infinitive or an -ing form, and the choice affects the meaning. These verbs include remember, forget, stop, regret, and try.
📝 Using a to-infinitive or an -ing form with these verbs can change the interpretation of the sentence.
For example: 📌 I remembered to send the email.
(= I didn’t forget to send it. I made sure to do it.)
📌 I remembered sending the email.
(= I sent the email earlier, and I remember doing it.)

Choosing Subjects

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Use objective case pronouns with a to-infinitive to indicate who is expected or allowed to perform an action.
For example:
✅ expect him to complete the task
✅ permit her to join the team

👥 Use possessive pronouns with a gerund to show ownership or association with an action.
For example:
🎶 appreciate their dancing
🚭 mind my arriving late
